Sanctioning Guidelines

Sanctioning Your Event Step by Step Start to finish

Step 1:

All tournament directors desiring USPA sanctioning, can submit their request to the USPA by submitting the Online sanctioning form. Once the form is  received, the USPA will respond within 48 hours.  A tournament director must submit their request for sanctioning a minimum of 30 days prior to the first day of the tournament.

Step 2:

Complete all the required information on the Online Form. The main information required is the name of the event, dates, host club, contact name, telephone number, e-mail address, etc. and submit an online Paypal deposit of $150.00. This deposit can also be mailed in to the USPA or handed to a local USPA Board Director. This amount will be refunded by the USPA if the tournament director provides the USPA with Ten (10) new "Pro" (paid) members and has fulfilled all the requirements* as stated on this page (see below). At present, a "Pro" membership is only $15.00 for the tournament year. There should always be a USPA Board Director at your event who will have membership cards and enrollment forms on-hand. In the event there cannot be a board director present, then a tournament director must print these forms from the website and keep on-hand at their event. Membership cards will then be mailed or handed to the new member by the area's Board Director.

Important note: This amount is only covering the cost of insuring your event.

Or

Print then mail the completed sanctioning form, with payment, to the USPA in sufficient time to be received six weeks prior to the event or a minimum of 30-days.

Step3:

Immediately upon approval of your event you will be assigned a password so you can download any of the USPA Tournament Forms which are available to USPA sanctioned tournament directors. Below is the list of forms presently available online.

Tournament Entry Form, Sample Waiver of Liability, Liability Insurance Certificate, Tournament Elimination Chart, Game Tally's, Event Checklist, USPA Official Rules of One-Wall Paddleball

Step 4:

At the close of the event the following requirements must be fulfilled - - no later than 14 days after the event has concluded - - to receive the full refund:

The tournament director will be refunded the balance of their deposit less the new memberships. The deposit will also be forfeited if the tournament director does not use one of the three systems that are made available. The tournament director can also supply a local USPA Board Director the required information and membership fees.

Step 5:

When all requirements have been fulfilled (within the two-week period following the event) a refund from the USPA will be issued and mailed to the tournament director's registered address.

*Special Provisions & Processing Requirements

  • Completed tournament draw sheets for each division and a tournament roster of names are required to process the official results into the USPA Ranking System. It is in everyone's best interest to keep a good tally of match results.
  • Tournament rosters & results containing the names of expired or non-members cannot be entered and will be returned to the tournament director for follow-up membership processing and collection of payment.

To assist in the collection of memberships and help with the refund of your deposit, the USPA is adopting a plan where a tournament director is required to add $5.00 payable to the USPA to the cost of entering their tournament. This is to help off-set the cost of insuring the event. The collection of this "extra" amount can be used as credit for memberships when requesting the refund of your deposit.

We expect everyone to help in supporting this procedure as it will benefit everyone and help ensure the life of the association. The USPA is a service to the paddleball community which has real expenses which naturally need to be funded. Thank you to all of you in advance for your cooperation.

Attentively,

The USPA Board of Directors
